ENTERING INTO THE BEST DAYS OF THE YEAR

IT IS SUNNAH MUSTAHABBAH FOR ALL THOSE WHO ARE WILLING TO GIVE QURBANI NOT TO REMOVE ANY HAIR OR NAIL FROM THE BEGINNING OF DHUL HIJJAH UNTIL AFTER OFFERING THE QURBANI.

FASTING FIRST 9 DAYS OF DHUL HIJJAH

THE PROPHET ﷺ SAID THAT FASTING ONE OF THESE DAYS IS EQUAL TO THE REWARD OF FASTING FOR A WHOLE YEAR AND STANDING IN ONE OF THESE NIGHTS IN PRAYER IS EQUAL TO STANDING IN PRAYER ON LAYLAT AL-QADR.

MULTIPLE REWARDS

IT HAS BEEN NARRATED THAT THE REWARD FOR ACTIONS IN THESE DAYS IS MULTIPLIED SEVEN HUNDRED TIMES.

FASTING THE DAY OF ARAFAH (THE 9TH OF DHU’L-HIJJAH)

THIS IS THE GREATEST DAY OF THE YEAR. FASTING THAT DAY WIPES OUT THE SINS OF THE PREVIOUS YEAR AND THE YEAR TO COME.

TAKBEER, TAHLEEL AND TAHMEED IN ABUNDANCE

THE PROPHET SAID ﷺ THAT IN THESE DAYS WE SHOULD MAKE ABUNDANT TAHLIL (SAYING LA ILAHA ILL’ALLAH), TAKBIR (SAYING ALLAHU AKBAR) AND TAHMID (SAYING ALHAMDULILLAH).

WHETHER IT BE PRAYER, FASTING, CHARITY, REMEMBRANCE, SEEKING KNOWLEDGE, HELPING PEOPLE, ANY RIGHTEOUS ACTIONS WE DO WILL BE GREATLY REWARDED AND BEYOND THAT ARE BELOVED TO ALLAH. THIS IS ALSO A TIME WHEN PRAYERS ARE ANSWERED BY ALLAH.

TAKBEER TASHREEQ

IT IS WAJIB (NECESSARY) TO MAKE THE TAKBIR AFTER EVERY (FARD) PRAYER FROM FAJR ON THE DAY OF ARAFAT (9TH DHU’L-HIJJA) UNTIL ASR ON THE 13TH OF DHUL HIJJAH (FOR 23 PRAYERS).

TAKBEER TASHREEQ IS:

ALLAHU AKBAR, ALLAHU AKBAR, LAA ILAAHA ILLALLAHU WALLAHU AKBAR ALLAHU AKBAR WALILLAHIL HAMD.

MAY ALLAH SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALAA GRANT US TAWFEEQ TO CARRY ON WITH GOOD DEEDS IN THESES BLESSED DAYS.

The excellence of the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah have been mentioned in the Qur'an and the Sunnah.

1. Allah says in the Qur'an:

"By the dawn and by the ten nights … "Al-Qur'an 89:1-2

Ibn Kathir said that "the ten nights" referred to here are the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, and this opinion was also held by Ibn Abbas, Ibn Az-Zubair, Mujahid and others.

2. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:

"There are no deeds as excellent as those done in these ten days." They (the companions listening) said, "Not even Jihad?" He, peace be upon him, said, "No, not even Jihad except a man who goes forth endangering his life and wealth and does not return with anything." Recorded by Imam Al-Bukhari

3. Allah says:

" … and remember the name of Allah in the appointed days." Al-Qur'an 2:203

Ibn Abbas and Ibn Kathir said this means in the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.

4. The Messenger of Allah, upon whom be peace, said:

"There are no other days that are as great as these in the sight of Allah, the Most Sublime. Nor are there any deeds more beloved to Allah then those that are done in these ten days. So increase in tahlil (to say la illaha illallah), takbir (to say allahu akbar) and tahmid (to say alhumdulillah)." Reported by At-Tabarani in Al-Mu'jum al-Kabir

Virtues of Qurbāni

•Qurbāni is a practice commanded by Allah:

So turn in prayer towards your Lord and sacrifice (animals). (108:2)

• There is nothing dearer to Allah during the days of Qurbāni than the sacrificing of animals. The sacrificed animal shall come on the Day of Judgement with its horns, hair, and hooves (to be weighed). The sacrifice is accepted by Allah before the blood reaches the ground. Therefore sacrifice with an open and happy heart. (Tirmizi, Ibne Mājah)

Police are appealing for information after a large amount of money was stolen from a Shahjalal Mosque in Rusholme.

At around 4am on Monday 26 June, police were called to reports of a burglary at Rusholme Mosque on Eileen Grove.

It is believed that after 9pm on Sunday 25 June, a man entered the building from behind, climbing onto the roof, before forcing his way through a window to get into the mosque.

The offender then broke into the locked office where he took a large amount of money and then left.

Chief Inspector Laura Marler of GMP’s City of Manchester borough, said: “This kind of crime is really disappointing. The people who regularly attend this mosque are shocked that someone has done this during the EID celebrations, in what should be a joyful and celebratory time.

“I am urging anyone who was in the area at the time, or who recognises the man in the CCTV image to please come forward, so that we can give peace of mind to the local community.”

Mr Mohammed Ashik Miah, Chairman of Shahjalal Mosque & Islamic Centre, said: ''We are incredibly saddened and shocked that a place of worship has been burgled.

“We would like to thank GMP for their prompt action and efficiency in dealing with the matter.

“We hope that the offender is caught as early as possible and justice is served.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 9770 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
